Since the 1960s,<br \/>\nTokelauan families have settled in Auckland seeking opportunity, stability, and education \u2014<br \/>\nwhile carrying with them the spirit of fakaalofa (love and respect), inati (sharing), and a deep<br \/>\nsense of language, culture, and faith.<br \/>\nToday, over 2,400 Tokelauans live in Auckland, making it the second-largest Tokelauan<br \/>\npopulation in New Zealand.<\/h3>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"107\" data-end=\"120\">What We Do<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"122\" data-end=\"342\">The <strong data-start=\"126\" data-end=\"154\">Auckland Tokelau Society Incorporated<\/strong> supports the wellbeing, identity, and cultural strength of the Tokelauan community in T\u0101maki Makaurau, Aotearoa New Zealand. Our work is grounded in Tokelauan values and driven by the needs of our people.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"344\" data-end=\"370\">Key Areas of Our Work:<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong data-start=\"374\" data-end=\"399\">Cultural Preservation<\/strong><br data-start=\"399\" data-end=\"402\" \/>We promote Gagana Tokelau (language), traditional knowledge, and intergenerational learning through community events, workshops, and cultural programmes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"561\" data-end=\"727\"><strong data-start=\"561\" data-end=\"582\">Community Support<\/strong><br data-start=\"582\" data-end=\"585\" \/>We offer social support and advocacy for Tokelauan families.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"731\" data-end=\"878\"><strong data-start=\"731\" data-end=\"767\">Youth and Leadership Development<\/strong><br data-start=\"767\" data-end=\"770\" \/>We work along side our Tokelauan youth, encouraging confidence, identity, and leadership for the future.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"882\" data-end=\"1025\"><strong data-start=\"882\" data-end=\"906\">Health and Wellbeing<\/strong><br data-start=\"906\" data-end=\"909\" \/>We help run and are currently looking at opportunities for our families to obtain better health services and support pathways that reflect our unique cultural needs and challenges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1029\" data-end=\"1231\"><strong data-start=\"1029\" data-end=\"1048\">Future Planning &#8211; Lumanaki Project<\/strong><br data-start=\"1048\" data-end=\"1051\" \/>We are actively working to establish a dedicated Tokelau Community Centre in Auckland \u2014 a hub for language revitalisation, cultural events, social services, and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1233\" data-end=\"1351\"><strong>Our Vision is to empower the Tokelauan Community to thrive across gen<\/strong><strong>erations \u2014 Spiritually, Socially, and Culturally.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1233\" data-end=\"1351\"><em>Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) \u201cFor I know the plans I have for you,\u201d declares the Lord, \u201cplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.\u201d<\/em><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Auckland Tokelau Society Incorporated represents a small but deeply rooted Pacific community whose journey in Aotearoa New Zealand began over 60 years ago.
